There Are Simple, Natural Sinusitus Cures.
When I was a teenager I wish I’d known about ways to cure sinusitus. I still remember it as the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced – even now, after having six babies!
Your sinuses are the hollow spaces in the bones of your skull. When they get blocked up infection can set in. This can be bacterial, viral or fungal. Sinus inflammation can follow a cough or cold, or the infection could spread from an infected tooth. Whatever the cause, it is a very painful condition.
So what can you do about it? Taking an antibiotic will not have any effect if the infection is viral or fungal. Surgery can be used to treat chronic sinusitus symptoms in some cases, but surgery is a bit drastic. It’s worth trying some home remedies.
If you often suffer from a runny nose or waxy ears, consider giving up milk and milk products. Most people have lost the enzymes to digest milk by the time they're adults. Mucous conditions such as sinusitus and milk consumption often go together.
Many people find goat’s milk or sheep’s milk easier to digest. If you must have milk, get unpastuerised if you can as its more digestible raw. There are also non-dairy milk substitutes made from nuts or grains. These are available from health food stores and even supermarkets.
You can make your own quite easily. In my book

On Gluten Free, Dairy Free Cooking, I have recipes for cheese substitutes as well as for nut milk.
It might not be easy, but give up milk and sinusitis could soon be just a bad memory.
Vigorous nose blowing can actually drive some of the mucous up into the sinuses. Sniffing, though it may not be polite, is more helpful at clearing the sinuses. It can take years of sniffing to undo the effects of years of nose blowing. So if you do have to blow your nose, do it gently.
Another physical way of clearing your sinuses is humming! Seriously - the vibration helps to loosen the phlegm.
Essential oils are very helpful for unblocking your nose and sinuses. Peppermint, eucalyptus and oil of wintergreen are often used for this. Use in an infuser or in a bowl of hot water – lean over it with a towel over your head to capture the steam. The steam itself is helpful as well. Also, many essential oils are powerful antibiotics, anti-fungals and anti-virals.
If you have an infection, it is important to have lots of vitamin C. Antibiotics will only work against bacteria, and anti-fungal medicines only against fungal sinusitus, but vitamin C helps the body against all infections - bacteria, fungus and viruses. You can take from 4 to 10 grams a day to help fight off an existing infection.
Other things that help your body’s immune system are onion and garlic – especially raw – and Echinacea, either as tea or as tincture.
At the same time, it is important to cut right back on sugar of all types. Nothing feeds an infection like sugar. Refined carbohydrates such as white bread, pastry etc aren't much better - use wholemeal instead.
When you have any sort of infection, its important to get lots of rest. Go to sleep, and let your body get on with healing. If you’ve got sinusitus you probably don’t feel like doing much anyway. I know I didn’t when I had it.
Try these ideas for sinusitis cures - you'll soon find relief from the pain.
